Last Wednesday we went to Homes Co. Ohio for a trip to the Amish country. We love going this time of the year because a drive through the country on a fall day be it sun shine or rain is beautiful. We get up in the wee hours of the day before the sun rises, as you can see Dan sound asleep, but that's not unusual for Dan at any given time of the Day!
Our purpose? To be at Hershburgers for their wonderful cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Hmmm Hmmm! We also get our fresh made bread for our lunch there.
We decided though to go to orchard in Walnut Creek 1st this time. As always its a colorful place to see. We decided to pick up our apples & cider for lunch, because we wouldn't be returning until much later to get our load to take home & freeze. The view from this place is gorgeous as usual!
We love to travel the back roads to catch the Amish in their own setting. Their farms are always neatly groomed. Even though they are plain folks, you will often see their homes arrayed in beautiful flowers!
I love the simple life of the Amish. They don't care what the world thinks of them. They live as they feel the Lord tells them to. They live without electricity because they feel that it is important to be dependent on one another. They are always there to help each other out.
We love hearing the clip-clop of the buggies going by. We always give a quick wave. They either nod their head or return the wave.
Wednesday the auction is in Mt. Hope, so we stop by to take a look. They have buggies of all variety. The carriages are beautifully hand crafted. It's fun to imagine yourself in one of those. I believe my husband has a desire to build a horseless carriage. That would be cool (literally) to ride around in one.
Overall the day was a good day even though the temperature dropped as it went along. During the day we eat in the car as we drive around, picking up goodies along the way. By evening we stop at the local restaurant for dinner before we head home.

I missed going this year. Mark my words, I WILL get Lee to take me up there! There is an Amish community less than two hours from here...we need to check that one out. We were going to do it in November but decided to save the money for Christmas.
Oh Jordan, please do and let me know how you liked it. Maybe the spring would be a better time.
Wow, I l;ove the fall and the country. I like your blogger A. Debbie.

Thanks Ashley! I'm glad you finally found it.
Mom, the site looks great! It makes me homesick for autumn in the USA.
We love you, Sweetie, & miss you. But we'll see you soon!
